Historic Longhouse & Bluebird Library (circa 1886)

Grand Re-Opening 2012

While it’s true that many things have changed in Greer throughout the years, The Molly Butler Lodge remains a living testament to the village, the times, and its people for the last century.  Set, almost in amber, are the original structures and stories handed down through the years.

As one of the original four structures built by John and Molly Butler as early as 1908, the famous Long House has played host to numerous celebrities from Washington to Hollywood and, in honor of just a few of those guests, our renovation plans for the historic structure now includes four separate luxury suites.  While stories of nightly hauntings in the Long House may or may not be true, we feel confident that the spirit of our guests certainly lives on to this day.  President Herbert Hoover, author Zane Grey and Hollywood immortal John Wayne have all contributed to the rich history of our lodge which we are pleased to revel in and continue to share with visitors today.

Yesterday’s guests would undoubtedly recognize the Long House from the outside, but my, how times have changed for our guests indoors. Expect nothing less than a complete experience in intimate excellence.  Each room is a Period exercise in design, style and textures harkening back to yesteryear in complete comfort.  You may want to reserve the experience for a special occasion but just one stay may find you indulging yourself over and over again.  Each suite is an original masterpiece, so take your time before you decide and get a closer look at what each has to offer…
